Floorcovering for Valley Community School, Bolton

The Valley Community School is a new build primary in Bolton and the largest in the area with 556 pupils on the register. With so many people using the building, the school environment demands a hardwearing, resilient floorcovering that retains its appearance and has excellent durability. Bonar Floors’ Flotex provided the perfect answer.

Valley Community School had strict requirements for flooring from both a design perspective and on a practicality level. The flooring needed to withstand large volumes of pupils and guests walking around the school on a day-to-day basis and features such as cleanability, durability and ambient noise reduction were essential. “Within infant classrooms spillages occur on a regular basis, so flooring needs to be cleanable and durable” said Gwen Acton, Head of the school. Gwen decided to divide the school into four colour-coded zones, each representing the four age groups. Within these areas, everything is the same colour. Gwen said, “I think it looks great and the children love it. The colour and vibrancy of the flooring creates a bright and friendly environment.” Architect Mr Williamson of Bradshaw Gass & Hope added; “Getting the right flooring is essential in any building and the demand for an effective floorcovering is crucial. Having worked previously with Bonar Floors at another school in the area, I was convinced that Flotex flooring was the ideal solution for the school.” Community School is the second new build primary school in the Bolton area to use Flotex. Dave Pemberton of Bonar Floors commented: “I firmly believe that reputation precedes a company and if these two schools are anything to go by, Bonar Floors is ahead of the competition when it comes to knowing the needs of the education sector.”
